Earlier this week, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers completed the “Great Lakes and Mississippi River Interbasin Study” (GLMRIS). Mandated by Congress, the study presents several options for preventing the movement of invasive species, such as Asian Carp, into the Great Lakes.
In addition to preventing harmful species from enter the five Great Lakes, the report also presents benefits the region surrounding Chicago with better flood management and improved water quality.
