Winter Film Series: The Forever Chemicals

Winter Film Series: The Forever Chemicals
January 7, 2019 GLN Editor

Join us for a screening of “The Forever Chemicals” with an insightful conversation regarding current questions and concerns over PFAS.

“PFAS” is short for per- or polyfluoroalkyl substances – a family of chemicals used to make common household products and waterproof clothing. They’re being found in an increasing number of drinking water sources, and research is only beginning to determine the health effects and what treatments there might be.

Join us as we screen Detroit Public Television’s recent documentary Great Lakes Now episode “The Forever Chemicals” and host an insightful conversation regarding current questions and concerns over PFAS.

Following the screening, activist and community leader Guy Williams, head of Detroiters Working for Environmental Justice, and M-Live reporter Garret Ellison will engage a thoughtful conversation and Q&A. Presented in partnership with the Detroit Historical Society.

* Please note that the panel discussion will take place after the Saturday, Jan. 11, screening only. “The Forever Chemicals” will also be screened Jan. 12 from 2-3pm.

Shown at the Dossin Great Lakes Museum. Admission is free. To register for this event click HERE.
