In the waters of the Great Lakes are dozens of shipwrecks.
Plenty of locations all around the lakes provide opportunities for people to see and learn more about these underwater historical artifacts, even for non-divers. For some of these locations, the state or federal government took the extra step to establish marine sanctuaries and bottomland preserves to ensure that those heritage sites will remain intact for generations to experience.
Great Lakes Now mapped where all the current and proposed national marine sanctuaries and state bottomland preserves are in the Great Lakes.
