A small but mighty transformation in the city Detroit, Michigan was celebrated last week by the collaborators of the The Gratiot Triangle Bus Stop Project– Members of the Detroit Eastside Community Collaborative Connor Creek Greenway Project, The Alliance for the Great Lakes and The Greening of Detroit, spoke to us about the importance of this project, and those like it, in their city. The project transformed a flooded, uncomfortable and unsightly bus stop known as the “Gratiot Triangle” into a beautiful, pedestrian friendly green space. Part of the larger Conner Creek Greenway project, this piece of the city is now covered with beautiful plants that soak up rain, and trees that will shade people waiting for the bus.
