The Environmental Protection Agency has registered a pheromone that draws sea lamprey together for mating as their first vertebrate biopesticide for the Great Lakes. The odor, known by the romantic name of 3kPZS has been used as bait in traps that collect and remove adult sea lampreys before they have a chance to spawn.
